Why Are Bed Bugs So Hard To Kill?

Why Are Bed Bugs So Hard To Kill?

Why are bed bugs so hearty?  Why don’t chemical treatments work with any reliability anymore?  Is there a better treatment out there?  Here at Convectex we hear these questions daily. People around the world are realizing that the “old” way they performed bed bug treatments aren’t working.  But why?  And what do we do from here?

Don’t worry!  Convectex has all the answers!  First, one of the key reasons that bed bug infestations take so many treatments to eradicate is because they are MASTERS at hiding.  Most people, even some pest control technicians, don’t realize that bed bugs can hide in walls, under carpets, inside furniture and even in electrical outlets.  These areas are very difficult to treat with spray or powder chemicals.  Because some bugs could be left alive after a treatment it can take months and multiple treatments to see any decrease in bed bug activity.  Some of the most commonly “left alive” bugs are the un-hatched eggs, which are usually hidden from sight.  These eggs will hatch after a treatment has been performed and BOOM…another infestation has begun!

Next, you need to understand why bed bugs are not reacting to chemical treatments like they have in the past.  This is largely due to their newly developed resistance to common chemical substances.  Deltramethrin, a common pesticide used for bed bugs is one of the substances that researches have found bed bugs becoming resistant to.  Bed bugs are constantly evolving, but our treatment methods have stayed the same (for the most part). This new research has prompted pest professionals to look for alternate treatment options…that’s where Convectex comes in!

So now to answer the question, “What do I do now?”.  Convectex is the “one-stop, bed bug shop” for everything you need to perform effective bed bug treatments.
